Priyanka Chopra was amidst the Bollywood celebs returning from IIFA in Macau, China on Sunday late night

June 15, 2009, (SAWF News) - Priyanka Chopra was amidst the Bollywood celebs returning from IIFA in Macau, China on Sunday late night, June 14.

She won the Best Actress Award for her role as a small town model who makes it big in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion.

Priyanka looked effortlessly chic in blue skinny jeans, black bracelet length sleeves blouse with revealing V-neckline, and a black scarf.

She accessorized with a trendy white tote bag, black peeptoe heels, watch in her right arm, a chunky studded ring in her left hand index finger and an emerald and sapphire ring each in her right hand little finger and middle finger respectively.

She wore very light makeup and her medium brown hair was casually tied at the back with a few astray bangs framing her face.

Priyanka, 26 looked stunning in a beige Manish Malhotra saree and silver blouse at the IIFA awards where her presence took everyone by surprise. She arrived in Macau from Singapore hours before the show.

Priyanka is a self declared work-o-holic. "I like to keep busy every day. The concept of an off day is alien to me. I am happiest when my day is jammed with things to do."

The latest tabloid gossip has it that that Priyanka is once again single having broken off with Kaminey co-star Shahid Kapoor, which is not to suggest that they were ever together. Gerard Butler too was likely just a media hype.

Priyanka is currently concentrating on her career. She is filming for Yash Raj Films' Pyaar Impossible with co-star Uday Chopra.

The former Miss World says that she does not mind the glam and babe image that comes with being a Bollywood star but she aims for box office success and critical acclaim. According to her going deglam for a role does not make you a better actor. Audiences just know who is a good actor.

She will be next seen in Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey followed by Ashutosh Gowarikar's Rashee.

Amrita Rao has been the girl-next-door. She has a sweet, seedhi-saadhi image which she now wants to shed along with her inhibitions for ShortKut-The Con is On. For the first time, the actress will be seen in an ultra-glam mode in the film.

Amrita is already accepted as a good actress but looks like she now wants to be accepted as part of the bikini brigade Priyanka, Bipasha, Kareena...

From simple to sizzling

2006: I am getting ready for exposure, but not for sensationalising or seeking a shortcut to success. However, I won't mind exposing on the demand of the script.
2007: I always like to play characters which people can easily identity with Poonam in Vivaah, Sanjana in Main Hoon Na and Payal in Ishq Vishq. These portrayals came across as warm and sweet girls.
2008: I'm very proud of that (simple) image. When I did the Verve cover, people woke up to another side of me. I'd say I was glamourous in Vivah and Main Hoon Na as well, though in an ethnic way.

Bipasha Basu hurts knees while dancing for ad

Bipasha Basu can never learn Western dance because of her sensitive knees. When she performed the Tango for an ad recently, she could barely walk the next day.

The actress says, "I managed to learn the Tango in bits and pieces while doing the ad for a deodorant. One has to wear high heels for the dance and I can't wear them as I have bad knees. I am always on flats and wear high heels on red carpet events, as I get horrible pain if I wear them for long."

Doing the Tango was painful for her. "My ankles would swell up and would hurt so badly the next day that I had to pop painkillers."

The actress has damaged her knees because of the wear and tear. "When I started out as a model, I would run like crazy without the right kind of shoes, and that took its toll on my knees," she informs.

"Now I wear the right shoes as I know that the wrong footwear can damage your feet and knees for life. Today with experience I am an expert on what shoes to wear and how to work out in the right way," says the actress who recently endorsed a sports shoe brand.

She says, "They show some brilliant dance forms but I can't even dream about learning any of these dances, much as I would love to. My knees wouldn't permit it and that's something I feel terribly sad about that I can never learn any form of international dance because of the high heels, intricate leg movement, lifts and jumps."

Shiney Ahuja produced in court, charged with rape

If charges are proved, they attract a minimum jail term of 7 years

A Mumbai court on Monday (June 15, 2009) sent Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja to police custody till June 18 on charges of raping, detaining and threatening his 19-year-old domestic help.

Arrested on Sunday night after the victim lodged a complaint against Shiney, the actor was produced before a magistrate in suburban Andheri court this afternoon under tight security, an official said.

The 36-year-old actor has been booked under Section 376 (rape), Section 346 (wrongful restraint) and Section 506 (threat to kill) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). If the charges are proved, they attract a minimum jail term of seven years.

Both Shiney and the victim have undergone medical tests in government hospital. Preliminary medical reports on the victim have proved positive, the official said.

The victim had been working with him for the past one year. She has accused him of repeatedly raping her.

Police claim that after interrogation, Shiney said he had "a physical relationship" with the victim. He has said he could have committed the crime in a drunken state.

He is said to be separated from his wife and living alone. His wife has arrived in Mumbai after Shiney was accused of rape. The couple has a daughter.

Shiney is an alumnus of Army Public School and Hansraj College, New Delhi.

He started his acting career in 2003 with the critically acclaimed movie, "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi". Later, he acted in movies like "Gangster", "Karam", "Woh Lamhe", "Fanaa", "Hijack", "Life In A Metro" and the box-office hit "Bhool Bhulaiyya". He has bagged over half a dozen prestigious awards in the past six years for his roles.
